Why West Palm Beach Residents Choose Us for PGT Service

Elliot Vance grew up in Los Angeles and learned the windows and doors trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before moving his operation east. He and our crew have been serving West Palm Beach for over a decade, with our Window Installation in West Palm Beach ranging from mid-century homes in Northwood Hills to newer construction near CityPlace. Elliot is known for one thing above everything else: frames that pass inspection the first time, sealed correctly against South Florida’s wind and humidity.

We specialize in PGT sales & service because the brand dominates this market, and that means we see the same failure modes every week. We know which PGT parts are still available from the factory, which are discontinued, and what aftermarket stainless hardware actually holds up. Every job gets a written price before work starts, and every repair or install is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it fails within the year, we come back at no charge. Our phones are answered by a live person 24/7, not a voicemail loop.

Common PGT Windows & Doors Problems We Solve in West Palm Beach

• Aluminum frame oxidation on WinGuard units. Homes along the Intracoastal and in neighborhoods like El Cid get constant salt spray. Within 8 to 10 years, the aluminum frames pit and the paint loses adhesion. We strip the corrosion, treat the surface, and re-anchor the frame to the CBS block where needed. If the corrosion has eaten through more than a quarter of the frame, we tell you straight: replacement beats repair.
• Fogging between glass panes. Pre-2015 PGT WinGuard units are prone to seal failure from constant UV and humidity cycling. That fog means the insulating gas is gone and the seal is breached. We replace the insulated glass unit when the frame is sound, which restores clarity and thermal performance without tearing out the whole window.
• Roller wear in 7000 Series sliding glass doors. Seaside homes in West Palm Beach get sand and salt working into the track. Rollers bind, the door gets heavy, and eventually the track misaligns. We replace worn rollers with OEM PGT parts when available and realign the track so the door glides again.
• Vinyl weld seam cracks in 5500 Series windows. Windows facing direct western sun in West Palm Beach take brutal thermal expansion, especially in CBS openings that heat up all afternoon. The weld seams at the corners are the first to crack. We assess whether the sash can be repaired or whether a full replacement makes more sense for HVHZ compliance.
• Weeping white powder along the bottom edge of WinGuard frames. That powder is aluminum oxide, the fingerprint of ongoing corrosion. In West Palm Beach’s humidity, it spreads fast. Left alone it compromises the frame’s structural seat. We address it early, before the window loses its anchor points.

PGT Service in West Palm Beach: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

West Palm Beach’s aging 1950s through 1970s concrete-block and CBS homes were built long before modern wind-load codes. Many still have original single-pane aluminum windows and sliding glass doors that are highly vulnerable to wind-borne debris. Now, under Miami-Dade High Velocity Hurricane Zone standards, upgrading those openings is not optional for most homeowners, it is code-driven. For PGT owners, this creates a specific tension: the frame may be repairable, but does the repaired unit still meet today’s wind-load requirements? The answer changes from house to house. In Flamingo Park, the historic preservation board requires impact windows to replicate the original divided-light wood muntin profiles, often down to a 7/8-inch muntin width. That means many PGT installations there need custom-applied grilles and specialty frame extrusions to earn approval. We measure every opening, check the existing anchors, and tell you what can be saved and what must be replaced before you spend a dollar.

PGT Models & Products We Service in West Palm Beach

We work on PGT WinGuard Aluminum Single Hung Impact Windows, WinGuard Aluminum Horizontal Roller Impact Windows, 5500 Series ClassicVue Max Vinyl Impact Windows, and 7000 Series Heavy-Duty Aluminum Sliding Glass Doors. We use OEM PGT parts such as interlocking rails, spiral balances, and replacement rollers whenever available, because they are engineered for the same wind-load stresses as the original. For discontinued hardware, we source high-grade stainless steel aftermarket components tested to match PGT’s structural requirements. That means no waiting weeks for a part that is no longer made. Our service area covers all of West Palm Beach service area and nearby communities.

FAQs – PGT Windows & Doors in West Palm Beach

Can a PGT WinGuard window from a 2005 West Palm Beach home be repaired to meet today’s HVHZ code, or does the whole window need replacing? It depends on the frame’s condition and the anchoring. A 2005 WinGuard frame with intact anchors and no deep corrosion can often be repaired to meet current standards with new seals, hardware, and glass. If the frame has pitted through or the anchors are loose in the CBS block, full replacement is the only code-compliant path. Call (728) 728-9381 and we will measure and inspect it before quoting anything.

Why do my PGT WinGuard aluminum windows look like they are weeping white powder along the bottom edge? That white powder is aluminum oxide, the visible sign of frame corrosion. In West Palm Beach, the salt air accelerates it, particularly within a few miles of the Intracoastal. It starts as a cosmetic issue but spreads into the frame’s structural web. We treat it by cleaning the corrosion, applying a protective coating, and checking the frame’s anchor points. If it has gone too deep, replacement is the honest answer.

Does PGT still make parts for the original WinGuard sliding glass door in my 1990s condo? Some hardware is still available from PGT, but many older WinGuard door components have been discontinued. We check availability first. When OEM parts are gone, we use stainless steel aftermarket rollers and tracks tested to match PGT’s load requirements, so the door operates correctly and stays compliant. Call (728) 728-9381 and we will identify the exact hardware your door needs.

Why is my PGT 5500 Series vinyl window bowing inward during afternoon thunderstorms? That bowing is usually thermal expansion from the western sun hitting the vinyl, combined with the pressure drop of an approaching storm. In CBS openings the wall holds heat, and the vinyl flexes more than it should. It is often a sign that the weld seams are weakening. We inspect the corners for hairline cracks and advise whether a sash repair will hold or whether replacement is the better long-term move in West Palm Beach’s storm profile.

What does a code-compliant PGT impact window replacement involve in a 1960s concrete block home in Westwood? We pull the existing window, clean the rough opening, and re-anchor the new PGT unit into the CBS block at every manufacturer-specified hole. Then we seal the perimeter with butyl tape and backer rod before caulking. If the home is in a historic district or has an HOA, we handle the submittal paperwork for approval before any work starts.
